What Are Veneers?
Veneers are literally wafer-thin and generally made from porcelain inside of a professional dental laboratory. Our dentist will create an impression of your teeth for correct sizing and shaping. A shade guide is then used to determine the best fitting shade that matches the natural color of your teeth.
How are veneers applied to my teeth?
In order to apply veneers to the teeth, your original teeth must be shaved down to make space for the veneer attachment. This allows the veneers to rest comfortably on top of your original tooth, completely reshaping it.
How much is shaved away from my tooth?
This depends on each individual, but generally, only a fraction of your tooth’s enamel is shaved down to make enough space for your veneers to fit comfortably.
How long do veneers last?
With good oral hygiene at home and routine follow-ups with your dentist, dental veneers often last longer than 10 years. Corrections may be made at any time for adjustments or corrections.
Is there any special care for dental veneers?
No, there is no special care for dental veneers. Simply brush & floss your teeth as you normally would in order to maintain your veneers and your oral health.
Misconceptions of Veneers
Veneers are painfull
Dr. Ghiam applies a local anesthetic to numb the area so that any pain or discomfort is not felt. A small amount of pressure may be experienced, but patients do not complain of pain from the dental veneer application.
Veneers look too fake
Sometimes, people opt for a shade of dental veneers that appear too milky white for an unnatural appearance that may seem fake to some. However, the choice is yours in how you want your teeth to appear using a shade guide.
You lose too much of your original tooth when you receive veneers.
In certain cases, tooth reshaping is not even needed to apply a dental veneer. However, when reshaping is needed it is often minimal.
Cost of Veneers
No two smiles are the same. Each individual has different esthetic enhancements they would like to make, different facial features and of course different bite and occlusal characteristics that will impact the price. The price varies since each smile makeover requires its own individual technique, varies in the number of veneers and the amount of time required for your treatment.
Your smile and bite must be evaluated first in order to determine what treatment and type of veneer is appropriate for you individually. Dr Ghiam will thoroughly review every aspect of your smile and formulate a custom treatment plan. Once the treatment plan is finalized a detailed estimate of your treatment cost will be discussed with you as well as financing and payment plan options we have available.
Typically the price range for custom Porcelain Veneer treatment personalized for each patient with Dr. Ghiam ranges from $2000-$2400 per veneer.
While Dr. Ghiam is renowned for his award-winning aesthetic dental treatments, he prides himself on keeping the cost appropriate and approachable for patients by not expending on public relations and heavy Beverly Hills rent costs.
